In 1987, when he was the artistic director of the National Theater of Chaillot, the great theatre director and teacher Antoine Vitez staged the first full version of Paul Claudel’s mystery drama The Satin Slipper. Unanimously recognized as an uncommon theatrical event, it was performed at the Avignon Festival in the Pontifical Palace's Courtyard from 9 pm to 9 am.
The production was filmed at the National Theatre of Belgium in 1988.
