Electrostatica. Contagious Architecture – Nikita Vasilenko and Dmitry Mazurov
The title of this eight-channel sound/mixed media performance refers to the theoretical work by Luciana Parisi, and suggests that sound may be considered as an agent intervening in the spaces of architectural objects as if they were living systems colonizing other organisms and environments. The musicians employ techniques of algorithmic composition, stochastic processes, generative structures, and synthesis and distortion of the audio signal in the chain of modulators. They seek to investigate the relationship between programmed material and the potential of its errors by addressing the acoustic properties of a multichannel sound medium as adapted to the space in which this musical performance is improvised.
