This program offers the listener almost an full history of academic music written for electric guitar. It will include the only guitar piece by American composer Morton Feldman (“The Possibility of a New Work for Electric Guitar”), works by minimalists Steve Reich and Clarence Barlow (“Electric Counterpoint” and  “Until”), Tristan Murail’s spectralism (“Vampyr!”), Fausto Romitelli's psychedelic “Trash T.V. Trance,” and newly written pieces by Johannes Kreidler, Sergei Khismatov, and Alexandra Filonenko. The young authors program of guitar plays will be sound for the first time in Russia.

Denis Sobolev is an Israeli guitar player who lives and works in Jerusalem. He graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music, where he studied jazz performance and composition with Steve Peskoff and Ari Ben-Shabetai. Since the mid-2000s he has been an active member of the Israeli jazz scene as a guitarist and session musician. Thanks to a meeting with Vyacheslav Ganelin, his sphere of activity shifted to free jazz and experimental music, then academic music. As an improvisational guitarist he has collaborated with such Israeli musicians as Albert Beger, Jean Claude Jones, Anat Pik, Ilan Volkov, Orr Sinai and others. As a performer of contemporary academic music, he has worked with leading Israeli ensembles such as Meitar Ensemble and Musica Nova. He has collaborated with such composers as Chaya Czernowin, Lois Vierk, Stephen Prince, Amnon Wolman. He frequently cooperates with young composers.
