Presentation of a book by Alyona Solntseva: The Life and Adventures of Sergei Selyanov and his STV Film Studio, in His Own Words

This presentation includes a meeting with producer Sergei Selyanov, as well as the screening of his documentary film, The Russian Idea (1995). The film is a part of an international project of the British Film Institute's Century of Cinema, in which Selyanov tells the story of Russian cinema in 52 minutes. Sergei Selyanov is the founder of the STV film company, the producer of director Alexei Balabanov, and an initiator of reforms in the Russian film industry.

Alyona Solntseva's book tells about Selyanov's life as a director and producer, and gives us an opportunity to look at the device of the modern film business through the eyes of one of its key participants, seeking to unravel the secret of the producer’s success, true to the principle “the main thing is the film.”
