The premiere took place in 29 November 2020.

This performance, directed by Alberto Romano Cavecchi, is based on August Strindberg's "chamber" play, which the playwright wrote for an "intimate theater" that existed in Stockholm between 1907 to 1910.

The heroes of The Pelican are a mother and two children, imprisoned of their own free will in a deserted and loveless family mansion. While waiting for the inheritance of the family's deceased father to be resolved, the heroes enter into a fierce confrontation with one another. Unable to act and live in a reality that seems unjust to them, the children engage in a merciless cycle of events involving their mother as a sacred victim. While fire devours their home, the children stand, embracing, in front of a door that will lead them either to a happy world or to emptiness. A tragedy about the disintegration of a family and of the possibility of any human coexistence, The Pelican is a dream seen through the eyes of the mother. It is a story about the impossibility of returning to the origins of life, where one could be loved and could find true beauty.

The performance was created with the support of the Department of Culture of the City of Moscow.
